There are so many. I think my fondest memories come from Ultravox's "Reap The Wild Wind" with the biplanes and them dressed like WWI pilots. Vaguely recall it being filmed in b&w, but that may be just my own memory. Nothing will beat Visage's "Fade To Grey." That one is a masterpiece. If it was in a museum, it would be video art [8D]

The Farmers Boys - "For You" (quirkiness at it's finest!)
McCarthy - "Keep An Open Mind Or Else" (love is the law)
The Wild Swans - "Young Manhood" (cool & reminiscing)
The Smiths - "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" (everybody used to like riding bike...now we all drive cars?)
Aztec Camera - "Oblivious" (a view from the tree top...)
The Wedding Present - "Why Are You Being So Reasonable Now?" (flowers & members flowing from above)
The Railway Children - "Everybeat Of The Heart" (sure a heart thing with a woman on the intro)
Echo & The Bunnymen - "The Game" (surely it found a way to my heart)
Orange Juice - "Felicity" (i miss those days)

Some know the side of the mountain the grape grew on, others can pick the difference between a 'Very Good' and a 'Mint' twenty year old comic. Me, I am a connoisseur of 80's music videos. Here are some of my favourites.

Suedehead - Morrisey: I believe it is an homage to James Dean and is a shot for shot re-enactment of some archival footage of James Dean revisiting his hometown. I just love the tableaus, Morrisey in the bath tub with quill and journal and the huge picture adorning the wall.

Alive and Kicking - Simple Minds: Lots of pastoral outdoor shots near a waterfall and some kinetic footage in a forest.

In a Big County - Big Country: Again some luscious pastoral shots of the English Countryside and the lads bertling about on three-wheelers.

Love Ressurection - Alison Moyet: Filmed in Jordan and showing just how far 1980's Artistes and Autuers were prepared to go.

Street Cafe - Icehouse: Continuing with the Arab theme, this was filmed in North Africa and featured Rudolf Valentino head wear, Jodphurs, and gaiters.

Jazzin for Blue Jean - David Bowie: A classic, who knew what it was all about, but hey it was totally watchable.

People are People - Depeche Mode: On the Cruiser with their awesome fashion sense and hairstyles.

I also love the clips for 'Safety Dance', 'Robert DeNiros Waiting', '1984', and 'Stand and Deliver'.

I SOO Agree with you on that as well as TH's other pioneering videos "Burning Down The House", "Road To Nowhere", "And She Was" and "Wild Wild Life".

IMO: I also thought Peter Shilling's "Major Tom" captured the spirit of pathos inherent in the song by using those deftly edited stock NASA films and images (Especially the flaming aircraft descent at the end).

Other neato videos:
Lover Speaks' "No More I Love You's": Arty farty grainy b/w video of slow motion bouncing up and down on a bed. Kinda neat for its time.

Blancmange's "Lose Your Love": two loony guys wrecking a house, room by room. I loved their goofy facial expressions more than anything. Hey, does anyone have that vid in their collection?

And how can we forget Godley & Creme!
