Duran Duran wants Lynch to get weird on ‘Unstaged’

The members of Duran Duran aren’t expecting dancing dwarves and talking rabbits to be part of their episode of American Express’ “Unstaged” concert series. But they won’t mind if they are — or if director David Lynch wants to get even weirder.

“The stranger it is, the more beautiful it will be,” keyboardist Nick Rhodes says. “What appeals to us very much about working with David is that we like the way he thinks about things and how he’s always gone out on a limb to make things different than anybody else.”

The “Unstaged” concert will be streamed live at 9 p.m. March 23 via youtube.com/duran duranvevo.

Among Lynch’s plans: to monitor online chatter until a particular crescendo unlocks extra content and to uploaded photos of fans’ body parts for live and online collages.

“He seems to be coming at it from a more creative angle than anyone else,” bassist John Taylor says.
