This site needs a facelift

Postby hello_world » Tue May 10, 2011 1:32 am

Hi. I love this site: it's the best one for new wave on the web. And its look and functionality is circa 1997. Any chance of upgrading to a more Web 2.0 feel? I know it sounds like I'm complaining. I just love the site and wish it were more user-friendly and easy on the eye.

I sometimes wish the mods would keep a closer eye on the threads and consolidate the repeats.
Other than that, it works perfectly well-- LEAVE IT

I say make it 100% character-based and green-screened. Genuine New Wave era tech ;-)

Yeah, it's a tad ironic that me, a web developer, couldn't bother to spruce things up a bit, but I've been way too busy give this site all but the smallest of facelifts. I do plan on adding some 2.0-style upgrades soon however.

Good point about thread consolidation too -- I will look into this as well.

I'm pretty much fine with the site as it is. I only wish signature files can be ignored, but ...

I don't mind low-tech sites. Fancy sites just take longer to download + render, and it doesn't really add much other than eyecandy.

I think the site's pretty much fine. My only quibbles are that I'd like to have small avatar pictures and that Amazon MP3 widget at the top right sometimes bogs down my computer.

Leave it alone.

Plagiarism, we had a vote a long time ago and shot down the idea of avatars. Nobody wants to see pics of people's kids (or grandkids [:D]) ... and believe me, nobody wants to see the kind of images I would use if avatars ever do get activated. [}:)]

I would love to see the forums overhauled to a more modern one. The search function on this site takes forever.
