2011 NWO Top Songs Poll

OK ... here goes. This was a lot tougher than I thought, especially deciding where to draw the line at what could be included. I have 2 lists, one which includes all things "new wave" in the broadest definition, and this one, which is far more rigid. Ultimately, we're listing new wave songs on the New Wave Outpost and there's no way certain things should be called new wave. So ... no industrial ( sorry Fad Gadget, Nitzer Ebb), no goth (sorry Clan Of Xymox, Xmal Deutschland, Sisters), no punk (sorry Clash, DK's, Black Flag, etc.), no postpunk (sorry Fall, Wire), no college rock/alternative (sorry Pixies, JAMC) and most difficult of all, no Iggy, Bowie, Roxy Music or Be Bop Deluxe. Sorry but none of the above are new wave so fuck it, they're out otherwise my list would be 200 instead of 50.

Those are some rigorous criteria motors. I wouldn't be able to distinguish post-punk and a lot of new wave...so I won't. I'd lose some of my favorite songs.

I know, and I'm not really thrilled about it, but if I let one category in, I had to let them all in. I actually wish we were doing 100 songs. [:(]

Granted it's not what I would exactly call new wave, but I like the band.

Glad to see The Plimsouls on some of the lists. I always thought their popularity was more regional and that they didn't have much of a "national" following. I'm assuming those who listed them aren't all from the West.

Anyway, one of my faves and one of the best "two album" bands ever. That is, the bulk if not all of the music released in their heyday was actually from just one album and one EP.
