I am actually not a fan of "Echo Beach" myself,part of an effort by the EG Records label to undo the 1981-84 goth/punk image,and a rather off putting vocal,which is why it stopped at #53 on the UK singles chart; the same album,"Desire" featured another cover version,"Love's Unkind" by Donna Summer; not so good..

I believe there wouldn't be so much "Toya Bashing"
on this message board if a certain poster would post
something other than Toya. I think everyone would be
pleased if that happened.

I used to get a kick whenever I heard a New Wave Band like the Smiths or XTC on the radio. Now I hear them in the grocery store and in restaurants.

I just am amused at the abilty to Toyah-rize the masses here with a reign of Toyah!!...whom I think is a brilliant vocalist for the most part,an enjoyable actress,and a briliant 80's media manipulator, creator of visuals that eventually led to the Katy Perry/GaGa world we live in, in spite of the fact of never touching base in America(her own fault, as she acknowledges in the radio interview linked a few posts up)..

it was an uncommon occurence;
during her prime time, almost all her singles were Top 25, many top ten,and several in the top 5 UK singles chart;
after the split from the indie Safari label,and her 1985 marriage to Robert Fripp, her film/theatre career took the drivers seat, and her albums on EG, "Prostitute","Ophelia's Shadow" and "Sunday All Over The World" with Fripp, were undergroundy, progressive works that didn't lend themselves to singles releases..
the album, "Desire" which was where "Echo Beach" came in,was a miscalculation overall..
but I'm sure you knew all that already...lol
