Heaviest new wave album

Postby hello_world » Thu Jun 09, 2011 9:45 am

Guess I'm on a posting tear today. I'm late to the Comsat Angels bandwagon and have been listening to "Sleep No More." The drum (especially) and bass sound on the remastered album is freaking *massive* and makes me think of Black Sabbath or The Melvins.

It got me thinking. The word "heavy" is not often associated with the new wave genre. What is the heaviest sounding new wave album? I'm struggling to think of a heavier sound than the one on "Sleep No More" but I'm sure you newwaveologists will think of some.

p.s. My favorite song on the album is "Be Brave." Can't get it off my digital turntable.

I am a big Comsat fan also.

I would nominate PIL - Album. Although, it may be a stretch to call it purely New Wave.

LOL @ 180grams ..ive heard of people seeking out 200gram discs but that's more of a niche thing I suppose.

What comes to my mind...White Door...windows and that whole great, great LP. very multi-layered track.
