Top 10 New Wave Babes (completely sexist poll)

New Wave/Punk music, culture, genres, memories. '80s revivalism and other relevant topics.

Postby ghosty » Thu Jun 09, 2011 11:09 am

Out of the ones mentioned:

My top 3 would be:

1. Susanna Hoffs - saw The Bangles last year. She's 50 and looks 30. No work done. God bless those genes.

2. Terri Nunn - Actually looks way hotter from 2000 to today than she ever did back in the 80's.

3. Debbie Harry - An almost otherworldly beauty in the 70's. Despite posing for glamour shots she never carried herself like the sexbomb she was in person.

Belinda Carlile had that sweet spot in the mid 80's, Annabella Lwin still looks pretty good (well...she's younger than all the rest).

Never thought Siouxsie or Dale were the least bit attractive myself.

"You can't say 'them'. You have to tell me which one of 'them'." - Lenny Bruce

well if Samantha Fox and even Debbie Gibson are appearing.... with all respect but Deb was not that good looking at the peak of her popularity, sorry

I will mention Patsy Kensit from Eighth Wonder... a total 80's babe

and why not Mandy Smith, Kylie Minogue, or girls groups like Bananarama, Pepsie & Shirlie, or Mel & Kim...

or Sabrina Salerno... what a babe! [:D]

Yeah, but then why not widen the category ever into "Hottest Babes of the 80's" in which case it would be moved over to the NNNW forum? Let's stick with New Wave everyone.

I also want to give honorable mention to a honey that's not in a band but is in a band's video: the sunglasses-wearing blonde seen in the crowd in the Depeche Mode 101 movie. She's only there for a second, but she just strikes me as the perfect 80s babe. Can't give y'all a timestamp for the movie per se, but there's a clip of the movie in the MFTM reissue DVD-- she appears at 22:24.

I was definitely reaching to round out the 10. Dale had a great body. Wasn't she in Penthouse or Playboy? Her face isn't that cute.

I think you guys are right--Hoffs should be up near the top. I forgot how good looking she was. She was lovely in the 80s and she aged incredibly well.

btw hello_world , this thread could be better with a actual poll attachment. just sayin'.

Do you mean some kind of widget that I add to the post? I'd be glad to do it if someone gives me the code. Otherwise, if people are inclined, we could list our top 10s, with each #1 choice getting 10 pts, #2 getting 9, and so on, and then tally the results. Probably Frau_Blucher has a better formula.

Judging from the amount of drool produced over Hoffs both in her 80s and 00s incarnations I think she has won it at this point.

I'm just waiting for the inevitable to happen to this thread but until it does, a recommendation for Kate Bush, always liked her.

EDIT: Damn you wherewereuin82, beaten to it!

WWUI82 was referring to Toyah[}:)]

I'll second your nomination for Kate Bush, though Debbie Harry is right up there as well

It looks a bit more viscous than drool.
