An Inspiration 4 NW,Industrial and Other Music(?)

Postby 2Nu » Wed Mar 02, 2005 11:41 pm

This article piqued my curiosity since so many mechanical sound samples can be found in NW and other genres of music.(From the myriad sounds in AoN's 'Closer To The Edit', The car skid and crash in Ledernackens's 'Amok', The memorable helicopter (a Bell 206 2-blader) landing in Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall', to the toilet flush of In Deep's 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life'(And Away Go Troubles Down The Drain..) [;)]

Here's a spur of the moment list of other NW era tunes that have used mechanical sound samples.
Hey OllieStench help me out here! [:0]

Bryan Ferry> Kiss and Tell (Typewriter @Intro)
DM> Behind The Wheel (Car Starting Up)
FGTH> Two Tribes (Haunting Air Raid Siren)
It's Immaterial> Driving Away From Home (Car Starting Up)
Roxy Music> Love Is The Drug (Car Starting Up- an MG or Triumph perhaps?)
Tom Tom Club> Wordy Rappinghood (Typewriter @Intro)

Let's see what we come up with, have at it!

I thought of another one: Duran Duran's "Girls on Film" began with camera sounds.

Alice Coopers' "You look good in rags" has the clicking in unison of lever action rifles.

Tight Turn by the Raybeats has a bus crash at the beginning. Surprisingly, you can download this song (for free), and another Raybeats song, Calhoun Surf, at amazon.com. Here's the link:

The sound of the garbage truck in the Cramps' "Garbage Man".

Sound of the English police siren at the start of the Clash's 'White Riot' (similar sound on Scott Wilks and the Walls "Radioactive") - - probably alot of other examples I'm forgetting.

Depeche Mode - Blasphamous Rumors (Pots, pans, bike wheels, Alan said it was to give it a "at home" feel.)

Cabaret Voltaire - Talking time (Might be their best! The computer counts down the minutes as the song goes, industrial samples)

I love these questions cuz it's a great excuse to scan the collection again.

Apparently my memory ain't working so great. The first song I thought of (after Autobahn) was the car door sound in XTC - Respectable Street but after a listen, it's only in

Great Submissions Folks!

Here's another one
