Cheap Trick are exempt from genres because they make most other bands look like colossal pussies. [}:)]

Glad no one was hurt.

Members of the band Great White were reportedly overheard saying, "Really? ...Really!?"

No, but as the site motto implies and as Schwenko pointed out: "Where New Wave, Punk, Power Pop and 80's Alternative Live On!"

Don't know why they were playing a Blues festival but then again why was Berlin opening for the Steve Miller Band? A gig's a gig, I reckon.

Cheap Trick are definitely Power Pop. They're much more than that of course but in a pinch "Power Pop" will do. To rankle feathers even more: Back in 1980 commercial radio's concept of New Wave meant the likes of Blondie, The Cars, Cheap Trick, The Pretenders, Elvis Costello, Squeeze and a handful of others. People can argue the merits of each of those acts but regardless, that's the way it was (at least to my recollection). Of course, when I see a list of those acts I immediately conjure up visions of Mike Damone scalping Cheap Trick tickets and Phoebe Cates slowly rising out of a pool and....well, maybe that's just me. Ottawa Bluesfest has become a huge week long event with multiple stages and a mixed bag of performers. It's a great time to be in Ottawa, especially if you have a free place to stay (thanks C). I heard Peter Frampton was really bad...not sure if I'm surprised by that.

Ah, I see, it's "blues" in name only. That figures. Sorta like all the Country, Blues and Bluegrass that CBGB's was famous for. [;)]

Interesting lineup...Bootsy Collins! Hell yeah!
