The Church has a ton of great songs. "Reptile" and "Milky Way" are among my favorites as well.

The Deep in the Shallows collection is epic... I don't think there's a bad song on the whole thing, and it spans almost 30 years. Here's the original Australian version from 2007

I've thought for a while that "When You Were Mine" was one of the most underrated songs around. More hooks in that song than many bands pack into a whole album.

they are New Wave in our country. One of the most popular here. I like their album Starfish. My fave songs from them were Spark, Metropolis, Unguarded Moment. Under The Milky Way is probably their most famous song here amongst new wavers here in our country.

I guess in the UK they were Indie (didn't do new wave in the uk during this period) but they weren't that well known over here, even when Under The Milky Way didn't make an impact in the charts.

Great band though.......

Sign me up for a deep appreciation of "Almost With You" from their second album, "The Blurred Crusade". There is nothing about the guitar break in the middle that is not utterly perfect.

Blurred Crusade, awesome album. But the big difference in the Church was between live performance and recordings. These guys rock live, one of the better live performance bands around.

I've only seen them live once (Gold Afternoon Fix tour 1990), but it remains one of my favorite concerts.

Unguarded Moment was getting good airplay in England just before I left in late 82. I bought Of Skins and Heart a few months after I got to the US and have been a big fan since

Saw them live 3 times between 84 and 90.

Too many favorite songs to name but always had a soft spot for Myrrh from the Heyday album.

Steve Kilby did some pretty good tracks on his solo albums too.
