I can’t identify this one anywhere and I’ve tried, so I am hoping one of you will be able to help;
I think this is an early 80’s, American band.

The main chorus within the song is;

“I’m not running for president am I
I’m not running for president but if,
Could be innocent, it’s straight
You think it’s funny…”

Then later one

“I’m not trying to climb into a headline”

Thanks

It's called President Am I and it's by a band called Slow Children. The album's out of print but it's on Just Can't Get Enough Vol. 11.

Thanks!

You know, I was going to add to my post that I thought the song might have originated from a band called "sick children" but that would have been obviously wrong, although close.
