REQ: MWH Mother's Opinion Track 10?

Postby Sundayguy » Sat Dec 14, 2013 9:01 am

Found this info at some MWH site, regarding the Folk Of Of The 80s III release:

"At the end of the record, if you let it keep playing, Mother's Opinion will come back with a stereo flange on it. Problem was, no one bothered to tell the printing pressers that there were in fact 10 songs, not 9. So some of the early copies are missing this piece!"

Hoping someone out there can share this 10th track from the LP!!
Thanks!! [;)]

I don't have access to it right now, but I believe the long version clocks at 8:44 and it's from the official CD release. It does have an intermission near the end and about 30 seconds of flange outro. But to my knowledge this has never been released on LP.
You have probably heard the 7:45 version off the LP.
Also there is a 6:48 LP-version, which I don't know anything about.

Hey the moth, the version with the intermission then a flanged outro seems like what Ivan was talking about in the article. I was thinking that since LPs had 2 sides it was probably at the end of side 1, as Mother's Opinions is the last song on side 1, rather than at the actual end of the album side 2, it would make more sense that way.
If it's possible to share that version I'd much appreciate a listen, but if not I'll look for any versions that clock longer than the LP version.

Thanks for the info, & pssible share!

I think I may have found the longer version, the timing is close, but will wait til after it downloads and give it a listen, to be sure.
If it's a version still in print then I'd guess it would be better/safer not to share/post, but the info was helpful (thanks again!) and if this is the version
with the "outro" I'll separate it into 2 tracks, the way Ivan had intended. [:D]

Just asking ?? / wondering ??

This 10 track cd/album is on I-Tunes ..... what happens if you listen to it there ?? Can you preview stuff on there ?

Just asking. I don't have an account and simply refuse to put the Apple I-Tunes software on my pc

I'm with you there, Magnum, I also won't put Itunes on my PC.
I found the longer version, and it does in fact fade out, and comes back, so I separated the track into 2, as the album was intended.
I don't know about preveiwing tracks on Itunes, but I listen a lot at grooveshark.com, and also Spotify.

I had figured I'd need to find a vinyl rip with the "extra" track, but thanks to
the moth it's even better knowing it could be had from CD!

Glad you found the full version. 'Mother's Opinion' is definitely one of their best. Especially that long version. Generally I feel some of their outros are quite experimental, while the main body of their songs is pretty straight-forward. I wish they had expanded on their outros, just listen to 'Things In My Life.'
Still waiting to get a hold of their never-released 'Pyjamarama' and 'The Same Halo' from 1987 in decent quality. Stefan said on the old forum that he would release all the lost stuff and demos, but he is notoriously unreliable and then the brothers had a fallout.[:(]

Those demo tracks (and possibly others?) would be great, even if the sound quality isn't "all that" being demos, after all.
The versions of each I have so far heard aren't great, but not bad for being only demos either.
Maybe someday the lost tracks will be "cleaned up" and either offered for sale, or given away.

is interested.

Hello 01101001,
I have some old MWH demos on another hard drive, somewhere.
May or may not be same/similar to yours.
If you'd care to share (link, post, etc) I'd like to give yours a listen.

Cheers in the coming new year!
