Australia's New Wave answer to early 80's XTC.Their very first album was a great lost classic as far as I'm concerned,and the one hit from that album(at least over in Australia it was a hit) "Prefab Hearts" was a classic New Wave song all by itself.Very XTC sounding if I ever heard.Their first album includes not only that song,but some great songs as well,including some rare Ska as in the song "Livealaughaway" Some great synthpop as in songs that were also big hits in Australia like "After The News" and Love Will Find A Way.
How many here remember The Reels and their very first self titled album? What did you all think of their songs,music, and their style? And of course as a New Wave band in general? They even did some good cover songs as in their cover of the old Edison Lighthouse hit Love Grows(Where My Rosemary Goes) but in a totally different style than the original version.The Reels did it in Salsa style,with a Salsa beat.Kind of how Modern Romance would have done the song,if they ever decided to record the song.
The Reels also coverd the old CCR hit Bad Moon Rising in a Techno style,it wasn't very good unfortunately.They also covered Divinyls hit Pleasure And Pain and slowed it completely down.Was awful.They also slowed down Inxs hit "The Original Sin" If I were The Reels and David Mason,I would have not worried too much on covering the old hits, and just stuck to their own original songs,as that was what they were best at,and they didn't do most of the old covers any justice at all.

What I meant to say which contradicts my thread on The Reels here, was that The Reels only did some justice to one of their cover songs,and that was the Edison Lighouse cover.All the rest were very watered down and done in a more slow style,and nothing l
