Thompson Twins

Anyone know what the members of Thompson Twins are up to these days? I saw a show on VH1 about 6 six years ago ("Where are they now?") and they said Tom Bailey and Alannah Currie had married and I think they left England for New Zealand. They live on a farm there and have a studio in their basement. I can't find anything else out about their whereabouts today??

They released a couple of albums under the name Babble in the mid-90's, but I don't know if they've done anything since.

The Thompson Twins are/were my favourite band (well you have to have one I guess). Yes Allannah Curry and Tom Bailey do live together in NZ with their children. Apparrently due to the royalties from the TT days they have the ability to just potter about, I think Tom manages a couple of bands, does some producing, and works on Scores, and soundtracks, Allannah I think from last report was busying herself with anti GM rallies and the like.

About a year ago I read that she and some other New Zealand ladies stripped to their bras and panties in the NZ parliament to protest something, can't remember what it was. Must have mean't the protest wasn't that good.

Also up until about a month ago I worked with a lady who grew up in NZ and was friends with Allannah growing up. She showed me some pictures of her as a little girl, funny.

What about their 1981 release "A Product Of......this 12 track LP passed under the radar for all these years. I think this was actually before Allanah was officially a big part of the group, although she does have mention on the back cover. It is on Fame/EMI label

Wouldn't it be good to see this make it's way to CD??

In addition to "A Product Of...", I'd also like to see "Set" get a CD release, along with the EP that accompanied the first pressings of that album. The "In The Name Of Love" compilation that was their first album in the U.S. (now OOP on CD) just wasn't enough for me.

Great band- lots of great memories there. I think I already posted on another separate Thompson Twins thread that I hooked up with a girl in junior high that normally wouldn't have paid me a second thought because of them. I won't re-hash the story, but whenever I think back on my formative years of the early-to-mid 80's (up until '87), TT was always right up there on any of my playlists.

i had set on cd but other than a few songs it wasnt very good.i didnt like in the name of love either

I'm pretty sure that they got divorced recently. Check out the Love on your side yahoo group. It has lots of great TT info and links to dowload some of the said albums mentioned above.

hey, I recall that album...one of my friends had it, back then. Alannah played on much of it, but you are correct: she wasn't considered such a "big part" of the band at that time. Something about how she was trying to get her own band together. Correct me if I am wrong but I think it had something to do with the eventual formation of the Belle Stars ("Sign of the Times" fame--I love this song so much). But by then Alannah got more involved with early TT and abandoned her own group idea.
That early album was really weird and really quite good, although I haven't heard it since back then.

Personally I love their oldest stuff..."Lies", "Love On Your Side", and "In the Name of Love" are among my very fave old NW ever.
