The Cars, did they break up too soon????

They were an awesome band. Did they call it a day too soon? They seemed to go out while on top which could be a good thing. I just wish that they would've stuck around a little while longer. Any thoughts?

I think they should have quit after Shake It Up. I think they quit just a little too late...

They broke up? Really I think it was perfect timing. The cars remain a legend but I think they would have gone bubblegum if they stuck around.

With the tragic death of Benjamin Orr- a Cars reunion would just not be the same. They all pursued their own solo projects during & after The Cars called it quits. I think they knew when it was time to stop.

I think they quit at about the right time. Their last album "Door To Door" is definitely their weakest IMHO, but it still had a few good songs on it. Given the musical styles of the time, they were getting kinda dated by then. I think any further effor

I agree with Fritz, they got out at just about the right time. HeartBeat City was kinda the top of the mountain, and Door to Door was pretty anti-climatic. I don't think they were going to keep evolving as time went on. Fortunately they didn't stick arou

Maybe, maybe not. I suspect that they could have still put out a killer release if they all put their minds to it. Too bad for Ben Orr. His solo cd is really good.

While none of their albums were as good as their first , I feel they were pretty good through Heartbeat City. As far as Door To Door , I think I played it through only 2 or 3 times--could not even name more than 2 songs off of it.
