HELP ME FIND THIS SONG!!!!

I have been looking for about three years for a song that came out around 1996-98!? The song has a piano in the background and there is a guy in the background who sings something like..."I've been down hard in days, I've been down, I've been down hard in days...Ever since the day we met, Ever since the day we met." That is all I know!! Please, give me any clues that you have! I also heard it once on the background music on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown!!!
