First Avenue Closes

Postby Ollie Stench » Tue Nov 02, 2004 5:17 am

After much internal lawsuits, insults, and backstabbing one of the longest-running nightclubs in the country has locked its doors. As of last night First Avenue and the 7th St. Entry are closed for business pending bankruptsy proceedings.

Rumour on the street is that the old management team will be rehired and the club will re-open under a different name.

The end of an era or a new beginning, only time will tell. Hopefully it won't turn into a House of Blues any time soon.

This is sad. I remember driving there after seeing Purple Rain. A friend and myself drove for 2 solid days to get there. Another reminder how far away the 80's get every day.

I also regret to inform everyone that Ground Zero will NOT be closing down anytime soon. :)

If Ground Zero would pull their head out of their ass they could really do something with that space. I've seen 2 live bands there and played there one and it was a good room.

My main beef with GZ is the clientele. Too much cliquiness and just general bad vibes the last time or 2 I went on Thursdays. Mind you there's some people there where some bridges have been burned with.

First Ave HAS reopened. Same property owner and management, hopefully it is a re-birth for the club, and not just a postponement of the inevitable.
