I've been hooked on this New Wave band from Sacramento, CA called the Kimberly Trip. If you're into that early '80s New Wave sound, I highly recommend them:

Based in Sacramento, CA, the Kimberly Trip was formed by guitarist Jeffry Wynne Prince and drummer Bractune, self-confessed high-school nerds with sci-fi obsessions. Along with vocalist Kimberlina, bassist Sierra, and keyboardist Misha, the Kimberly Trip wraps pointedly funny social observations and introspective confessions around toe-tapping, pogo-inducing rhythms. The single “Geek School” is the highlight of the Kimberly Trip’s knife-sharp humorous narratives, an attack against hypocrisy that wears the nerd label like a badge of honor. However, the group has a serious side as well, best exemplified by the bittersweet “Anything But You” and the soaring heartbroken anthem “Supergloo.”

Catastrophic Behavior marks the point where the various ingredients which produce the Kimberly Trip’s explosive chemistry has jelled into a tight, focused unit, brimming with life-affirming vibes and buoyant rock & roll that is charming and irresistible."

Wow!!! You weren't kidding, these guys (actually guys and girls as it turns out) really bring the rock!! They don't seem all that much of a retro movement like I expected, though. I'm not saying this as a complaint, just that they seem to meld influences
