Song ID: Alternative/NWave Summer 1988 in L.A.

I spent July and August of 1988 in the L.A. area and listened to a really good Alternative/New Wave station.

There was a song that was played frequently. Seems like it had to do with the TV evangelists who were in the news. Chorus was high-pitched female voices.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
