Was it Falco or was it After The Fire? I heard that there were a few other versions by other bands too. Anyone know the story?

i know it was a song written by falco...atf was the one that made it a hit. also there was a 3rd version done by suzie andrews (and a 4th if you listened to KYYX done by all three)

Falco was first.

Falco's video for that song is probably one of the worst in the genre. ATF's video was much more appealing and probably has alot to do with their version's popularity (that and the fact they did it in English, not German, like Falco).

To my knowledge, the song was written by Bolland and Bolland (who had an album out called the Domino Theory, later writing songs and producing artists like Falco). Not sure if it was written FOR FAlco, but he did it first, then ATF (possibly under duress

It was written by Falco. The ATF version was translated by the lead singer Andy Piercy, however, the credits on the single go to Falco/Ponger/Piercy.

The band are still playing it and it's better than it ever was!

Dang, everyone beat me to it. Falco was indeed first, followed by ATF. Laura Branigan also used the song (I'd say she sampled, but it's the whole damn song!) in "Deep In The Dark," on Branigan 2.

It like Falco went to his local shopping malls to get his music video made at one of those stores that did those things, and then later he put his latest offering on Public Access for everyone to see.

A local entertainment shop to me, which seems to have just opened, has a smattering of CD's, but surprisingly enough, has a very complete Falco selection! I'm leery to buy anything, though, they seem to be those "russian imports".
