Postby obs » Wed Nov 30, 2005 4:17 pm

Confusion (DMC Remix) 8.8MB
http://s12.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0JOT ... U9TLSM4IFT
- from Volume One

Everything's Gone Green (Dave Clarke Remix) 8.0MB
http://s12.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2UD5 ... F3I11BAJSV
- from a Canadian compilation ... I think this is the
only appearance of this mix on CD ... it was only on
the vinyl version of "Rest of"

Everything's Gone Green (Show Me Green) by Advent 9.6MB
http://s12.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0ZP3 ... ISCYRZQTAD
- was released as a "New Order vs Advent" single but
I got it from Volume 15

as always, ripped using EAC, encoded with
LAME 3.97b1 --V2 -vbr-new, and zipped to
avoid data corruption.

Thanks OBS! Nice to see people taking such care to make sure the music is of good qulaity. Lestat, I have the 12" version from the single release of TBTHOG. I hope this is what you refer to by the Extended version. My version is only at 128kbps also but if this is indeed the version you need, I'll re rip it and send it to you.

That 7:04 12" mix of TBTHOG is in my Hub folder at 229k VBR as are the b-side tracks, Confusion Dub '87 and so called Temptation "original mix" which of course wasn't. It's from the 1987 gatefold CDS. The actual Temptation original single in on the new Singles comp.

Oh! And another interesting tidbit. New Order are huge soccer fans. Diego Maradona, nicknamed "The Hand of God" in his playing prime, "touched" England with a crushing goal in the '86 world cub, thus "touched" by "the hand of god". Don't know if it really has anything to do with lyrics of the song however.

I know there are a lot of remixes and versions of Blue Monday Out there. Does anyone know which version/remix has the iciest/coldest sound (you know that sound that New Order and so many other eighties groups perfected). Thanks!

Oh man, you guys got me in a New Order mood tonight! I think the coldest is the US Album version off Power Corruption and Lies. But it's nearly indistinguishable from the original 12" which is just slightly shorter. The cold drum lead-in lasts just a couple of seconds longer on th US Album, so I'm giving it to that by a nose. [:o)]

I don't think any of the radio or video edits that break quickly into the warmer baseline qualify as being quite as cold as the drum start versions. The '88 version with the "heheheheh" voice beginning on both the '88 single and Greatest Hits is much warmer. Even the instrumental version "The Beach" off PCL is warmer as is the mostly instrumental "Beach Buggy" off the Japanese 5". All the remixes are much warmer and dancier too - DMC, 808 State, Jam & Spoon, Plutone, and the absolutely dance floor shattering Hardfloor mix! [:p]

Short answer I guess was that the originals have that purest, cold sound.

I hate bad quality sound more than I hate bad music. Anyone running Windows should be using Exact Audio Copy to rip their CDs, and everybody should be using LAME varibit to encode MP3s.
