A Very 80's Christmas on Long Island Radio

My New Wave Christmas collection includes Erasure (2 different Christmas songs), Joan Jett, The Pogues/Kirsty McColl, Band Aid, U2, The Pretenders (2 songs), Throwing Muses, The Payolas, Captain Sensible, The Waitresses, The Alarm, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Timbuk 3, Wall of Voodoo, Eurythmics, David Bowie, Wham, XTC, Queen, Squeeze, The Ramones, Blondie, Kate Bush, Robbie Robertson, They Might Be Giants, The Buzz of Delight, Alison Moyet, Sting, Jona Lewie, etc. And, yes, this board's Ted McGinley, Corey Hart also is included!

I got home just before the show started so I was able to catch it. I haven't listened to much radio since WLIR went off the air. It was nice to hear some people, as opposed to the DJ-less radio stations, especially from the area. Thanks for a good show.

Wow - sounds like I missed a great show! Hey, patchy, any chance you could post the full track listing? There were a few artists on there that I didn't even know released any Christmas songs at all (e.g. Erasure, Blondie, and even Corey "Ted" Hart). I'm also a Bowie fanatic but can't name a single Xmas song of his off the top of my head (unless you played the Bowie/Bing song, though i think that was done in the 70's?). I love Xmas music and would love to track down a few of those songs. Thanks!

Sure. I have the list at home. Since the show covers only songs released/recorded from 1980-1989, the Bing/Bowie song makes the cut because it was not released until 1982. So, even though Der Bingle didn't even live in the 80's, his song did. Springsteen's "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" was actually recorded in the 70's, too (at CW Post for the Long Islanders on the Board).

Blondie's song was called "Yuletown Throwdown" and is only available on a red Flexidisc (Luckily, I have a copy) It's a bit of a re-working of "Rapture" and includes Fab Five Freddie on it. Since Freddie curses at the end, we didn't use it on the show.

Corey Hart had a B-side (again only available on vinyl, which I was lucky/unlucky enought to pick up) of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."
