Hello, first time poster. There are only two songs that I want that I don't have. I was wondering if anyone can help me with them.

* The full version of "Big Gold Dream" by the Fire Engines--not the edited version found on Fond.

* About four years ago, the late, lamented torchomatic site posted a song called "Big City" by a band called Empire. I really liked the song, but he only posted it in its extended mix. I hate the majority of extended mixes, because most songs have nothing to say after three minutes--so I was wondering if anyone has "Big City" in it's non-extended form.

Thank you.

Peter:

The extended version of Big City appears on the b-side of the 12" of My Imagination (I have a copy of this). I don't own a 7" of this particular Empire release, so I can't tell you for sure if the b-side was indeed the short version of Big City. If it isn't, I'm afraid you've got a helluva search ahead, as the only other place a short version of Big City would have appeared would be on their lp, "Who Starts the Stopping It" which is IMPOSSIBLE to find. I've looked everywhere...I've even contacted members of the band and not one of them even owns a copy of this lp.

I suggest you buy a 7" as they are readily available, and have a look. It's your best option, unless you get lucky here.

Didn't even know Empire released an album, wonder why the record label didn't promote as the tracks I have from Torchomatic are nice. Thanks for the extra info Eight6 as you've opened up another avenue I'll never be able to explore! [:D][;)]
