I confess! I've seen one full episode of American Idol!
Basically it looks like a sexist show to me. Legions of annoying teenage girls are expected to sing like Mariah Carey in order to get to the next round while the men are free to croon robotically.

Oh crap!...AMERICAN Idol. Duh! Oh well, what about the original British version "Pop Idol".
Yep, that's right. Once again, TV execs repurposed a British show from a few years ago and Americanized it.

* see my other post on this horrid show*

but what a great topic!

I'd totally agree with Alison Moyet and Boy George and Martha Davis. I think maybe Liz Frasier (Cocteau Twins) and Aimee Mann, too.

Sure to be booted off at the outset would be Morr

I remeber hearing about this show. Wasn't Dollar the first group/artist voted off the show?

Yes and Mark, the lead singer of Then Jehrico got "tired and emotional" and had to leave the show.

Ha Ha. I don't blame him! Touring with the rest of those people on a cramped bus, making stops in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, and other crummy towns would be "tiring & emotional".
