I was thinking back to when I was doing my radio show, and one night, I did an all-covers spectacular. What are some of your favorites? Here's a few of mine:

Right now, I could only think of these:

"Needles & Pins" by Ramones (this is my top 1 followed by Sex Pistols' rabid rendition of My Way!)

"Some Velvet Morning" by Primal Scream feat. Kate Moss
"People are Strange" by Echo & the Bunnymen (but they also covered "Paint it Black" & I think it's horrible! [V])

That's an awesome list. I did a "covers" show once, years ago at KAOS-FM in Olympia, and it was hella fun. Others:

"Our Lips Are Sealed" - Fun Boy Three
"Dead Souls" - Nine Inch Nails
"Red Red Wine" - UB40
"King of the Road" - REM
"Venus" - Bananarama (you know, personally I can't stand this song)

"Slippery People" - either Talking Heads or the Staple Singers; I'm not sure whose version came first
"Love of the Common People" - Paul Young (who did this originally?)

I like Linda Ronstadt's cover of Costello's "Girls Talk" and her cover of Chip Taylor's "I Can't Let Go", both from her "Mad Love" album (1980).

Chameleons U.K. do an excellent cover of the Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows".

Stranglers version of "Walk On By" absolutely ROCKS.

The Clash also do a killer version of Vince Taylor and the Playboys 'Brand New Cadillac', off London Calling...

Also, I believe the Skids did a cover of "Golden Years" by David Bowie (they did some Bowie tune on the "Working for the Yankee Dollar" double 45 set, but I never heard it. Any good?)

Not my cuppa tea, dreamy repetitiveness is just grafted on top, still not without charm. Do you work for i-tunes? (that's rhetorical)

REM - Superman (Clique '69), it's a definite improvement over the original.

Fine Young Cannibals did a good cover of "Ever Fallen In Love" by the Buzzcocks. The original is still untouchable however.
