OK--finding an old cassette makes me NEED to know who does this song-I'm assuming its titled Wrong Number or Sorry , Wrong Number.
First verse....

Looked up the number but something was wrong,
One of the digits was gone
Figured I try every number through nine,
Picked up the phone and I started to dial,
Stopped in the middle till I worked up the nerve
But I couldnt rest till my telephone heard,
546-3560
I asked for ????? but the person said "no"
Sorry to bother you
I wont be long
This number is wrong
So sorry (so sorry)
Wrong Number (wrong number)
Sorry Wrong number
Sorry wrong number

Anyone?

Randy, can you give us more? Fem vox? Synth? Dance? Pop?

Maybe...
Fire on Blonde - "Wrong Number" (1987)
Alisha covered this a few years later.

Pat McLaughlin - "Wrong Number" (1988)

Radio Fashion - "Wrong Number" (1989?)

Male vocals around 82--or at least thats when I taped it so it could be earlier. More popish in sound than anything else.

I'm sorry, Randy, for not reading this thread earlier. I grew up with The Atlantics. You lived in Boston in 1982, I'm guessing? I'd be surprised to hear you were able to tape it from the radio somewhere else.

Even more surprising to me is somebody from Poland requesting Ball and Pivot's "Down" in the Obscure 80s forum. How the heck did they hear that over there?!

Warwick and Providence were my stomping grounds--Living Room club of choice. I was huge into the local bands--dont know how the Atlantics escaped me. Think I taped Wrong Number off WJMF or WSMU.
