OK-so he's not new wave. However , in my mind he was one of the best singer songwriters in the business. I deeply regret never making it one of his concerts. I'm just curious what everyone else thinks about him. The guy had so many classis songs I would not be able to mention them all here-But-here are a few of my favorites:

I find it hard to belive that his greatest lp-in my opinion-The Envoy has yet to be released on cd. Its a crime!!!!

I only knew Warren for his Warewolves of London song. Based on that, I was never inspired to hear more of his material. Who knows, maybe I missed out.

I remember 'Leave My Monkey Alone' getting some airplay on WLIR back round '87 - '88. Liked it enough to get the 12" single [;)]

Yes, Excitable Boy was brilliant. I saw Warren Zevon in concert in 1984 and I was amazed at how multitalented he was, playing every instrument on the stage. I wasn't exactly a huge fan, so I was really surprised when the song Accidentally Like a Martyr,

Been a casual fan for years, his "Greatest Hits" is all I really needed. GG Allin did a straight cover of "Carmelita" which made me track down the original and it's now in my ever-expanding pantheon of great songs.

I consider him New Wave, if only because he was doing dancable stuff outside the mainstream in the mid 80s. I also at first knew him only from "Werewolves" but when Sentimental Hygeine came out I really got into his stuff. He was on a few episodes of Broo
