Moby's cover of "Temptation"

Postby ekahob » Sun Mar 27, 2005 10:40 pm

Moby. Just who is this guy? Artist? Fake? Copycat? Bore?

I find his cover of New Order's "Temptation" a little of all of the above. I'd probably be more open to this version if it wasn't Moby's. I do like the synths, the guitar and the singer though. Put it on when you want to go to sleep. It's the N.O. version on tranquilizers.

Thanks Ekahob - I kinda liked it. It's not as good as the original but still worth a listen!

Definitely a totally different take on the N.O. original.
Moby's been into the 'Chill Out' or 'Chill' music genre lately.
Me thinks it was a tasteful adaptation. Kinda reminds me of a mellow electronica infused rendition sorta akin to what the Cowboy

I think he's just a big fan. I bet he's not too different from many of us as far as musical inspriations. He's got covers of Joy Division's "New Dawn Fades" (doesn't really pull it off) and OMD's "Souvenir" (excellent!) as well.

I liked it. I liked about 50% of Moby's "Hotel." The other 50% I find unlistenable.

Is this really Moby?!? Unless he is post-op, it sounds very female to me!

Yeah, Moby is a big Joy Division / New Order fan. God, do I feel sleepy after hearing this cover of Temptation.....I think Play was his greatest achievement too.

It blows my mind that with some of the pop and hip-hop garbage that Sanneh espouses, he's going so far out of his way to hammer Moby. Sure Moby can be a self-important pontificating derivative and sometimes boring ass (whose music I often like, go figure)
