Question about whether a cd is Out of Print

Postby Stuck In The Eighties » Thu May 31, 2007 2:31 am

If I check for a cd's availablilty on Amazon.com, and it is unavailable through their site, but they have a link that says, "Buy new or used from these sellers", does that mean that the cd is out of print?
I'm assuming that, if Amazon doesn't carry it, the sellers who have it new are just selling unwrapped versions that they bought when the cd was available? Am I right?

The reason I'm asking is, I wanted to request an upload of the original UK Squeeze cd featuring Take Me I'm Yours, because I never see it in stores and Amazon isn't carrying it, but I don't want to break any rules. I don't want to spoend the money for the cd and shipping if the band isn't really getting anything out of it, like i imagine would be the case if I bought from one of the "sellers" listed on Amazon.

Could someone please explain the out of print rule to me? Any help would be appreciated.
Also, is there a website which tells you if a cd is in or out of print?
