KDHX online with medication881

Postby manekineko » Mon Mar 28, 2005 8:31 am

This afternoon I caught Pat's show online and wow, I'm impressed! Today's theme was songs from 1980 and Pat spinned a lot of great tunes from that year, from: B-52's, Dead Kennedys, Raincoats, DEVO, Wall of Voodoo, Gang of Four, Martha and the Muffins, Police, Elvis Costello, English Beat, Throbbing Gristle, Siouxsie, Joy Division,...and lots more in his two hour show. I thought I'd pass the word about how great this show is!

Here in Maine we get sh!t for radio, so Internet radio is a godsend! I'll definitely try to tune in again next week. Well done, Pat! It was a little spooky when I was just about to email Pat during the show to request Holiday in Cambodia, and that very song came on the air exactly at that moment. We must have been on the same wavelength (well, of course we were, 88.1 on the FM dial[:)]).

The show is Mondays from noon to 2PM, central time.

For the curious, here's today's playlist. All tunes from 1980. (Except the first one, for obvious reasons):

Damn...I totally forgot about it!!!! [:(!]

Now I'm depressed. That is my kind of music, too.

Med, I'll try again next week. I'm writing it down.

Manek, Maryland radio sucks too. I need to take advantage of these opportunities. Thanks for the reminder.

For your perusal, here is today's playlist:

http://kdhx.org/programs/medication.htm

The pledge drive went very well. I raised $1300 for the station during my show today, and they haven't added in the 6 or 7 internet pledges yet. My goal was $1500, so I think I made it.

Kimiiii, your pal in North Ogden should have a CD for you. It's a copy of my "Wolfe-Man Mix" that I sent to him. He thinks you would like it, and so do I. Give him a call.

thanks kimiiii...I'll try it. Windows Media appears to be my default, but I think I know how to change that.

I'm listening to medication's show today--he gave a shout to the folks at New Wave Outpost. Pat, I loved Science Kills by Snake Corps. Sounds very familiar.

Hey, Wolfe-man. I got my dose of New Wave medication today--I was in need of a fix, LOL! Nice to hear Tin Tin, New Pornographers, Rank and File, Let's Active, Jackson United, Lapush, and Telephone. Great show, but I liked last weeks show better! [:D]

Oh thank you, this looks interesting. Ever since Audioparagon.com stopped playing their stream I've been looking for more good obscure 80's internet radio.

Hey medication, you should get a copy of Steven Brown's playlist, it's huge -- maybe some stuff you've not heard before -- I might have a copy of the list that downloaded before he took the stream offline.

http://www.nwoutpost.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7671
I've got 5 Prima Volta mp3's if you want them, email me and I'll send you the urls
I never heard of Prima Volta before, but Steven Brown at Audioparagon.com came along -- he cleaned up a lot of music from LPs & digitized them, and was playing this obscure 80's music including Prima Volta on the stream. He also was playing a few songs by Tirez Tirez that I think are quite good as well -- I never heard of them either, but I have 3 mp3s of theirs and don't think they are available on cd anywhere either -- unfortunately he stopped the radio stream a couple years ago and took the site & forums down in the past year.

I like Headline News the best, but I really like all 5 songs. They are all from their 1984 album Mmwops (making music while other people sleep). Not much on the internet about them either. I did find one site, but most of the text is in a different language, but found the name of the guitar player and found his current ban & web site -- I emailed him and he was so surprised to hear from a fan that he sent me a cd with the entire album on it with art work too. He said he had converted the album to digital for the ban, but frankly I think Steven Brown's mp3s sound better then the ones that the guitar player sent-- though I'm glad to have finally heard the entire album, and think the 5 songs here are the best of the 10 on the album.

I'm just amazed we never heard from these guys and many others -- but it probably all has to do with radio and payola, etc.

best,
Dan
