I'm sure this has probably been done before, so hang in there- I'm still a newbie! [;)]
My son is currently upstairs picking out "Smoke on the Water" over and over and over.... aaaaaigh! I'm happy he's learning the guitar, and I realize this is every teenage boy's beginning guitar anthem, but please (I've only been listening to those same 12 notes over and over and over all day and all yesterday too)! I won't really be impressed until he plays the opening notes to "Killing an Arab" by the Cure. [:D]
At any rate, my question is this: who here, of those who learned to play a musical instrument as a teenager (or even attempted to learn), started with "Smoke on the Water"? Or did you pick something different and/or more innovative? Did you start with a New Wave tune?
