identify This ! > "Surf's Up / On The Beach" ?

Well, 1 post & counting !
While living in Hackensack ( ack-ack-ack ) N.J. for a few months as `83 rolled into `84 , I used my cr*ppy little Craig unit to tape WFMU as they spun several tracks : One was the long mix of "Dance Hall Days"...which I just took from vinyl-to-MD-to-Mac ___ another I only just identified 2 weeks ago as Kit Watkins "My Telephone", and just got the CD.
Yet one still eludes me [ but not You guys ! ]

I include a Rough-mix of the piece I looped n' linked & sampled-built atop it's structure. It needs a better mix, and is more manic then one's I'd normally intro myself with, but why not ?

"Surfs Up / On The Beach" is actually a 12" track that combined both tracks (one instrumental and one vocal) from the album. The Flirts were created by Bobby Orlando who did the early recordings with Pet Shop Boys among others. The 3 female vocalists changed somewhat for each album - I don't think ANY of the original 3 singers were used on any album beyond "10 Cents A Dance" but every incarnation had a similar rough, edgy yet carefree vocal "style". Most of Bobby O's songs would to some degree mirror current popular trends. "On The Beach" for instance is his B-52's soundalike.

The Flirts can be annoying, but I for one have always loved most of their music despite the cheese factor. I'd recommend the entire "10 Cents A Dance" album ("Jukebox", "Calling All Boys", "Passion", "Boy Crazy", "On The Beach", "We Just Wanna Dance" - great fun) as well as:

"You & Me" (Pettibone remixes)
"New Toy" (Pettibone remixes)
"Helpless"
"Miss You"
"My Boyfriend Is A Marine"
"Motorama" - (as Go-Go's as you can get without being taken to court)
"All You Ever Think About Is Sex" (basically "Nasty" minus the "Miss Jackson")
