Indio - "Hard Sun" REMADE?!?

Postby Erik » Wed Oct 10, 2007 2:16 am

Eddie Vedder has covered "Hard Sun" for that new movie "Into the Wild". This has to be the most obscure 80's song ever covered. I liked Indio a lot, but that CD has just disappeared (all I had was a cassingle!)...

I'm pretty sure this is not available. Amazon has used copies for $104 and Gordon Peterson is a bit of a recluse. I'll post a link to the album if it is ok.

It is an interesting album.
Some guest musicians on the album include:
Joni Mitchell
Manny Elias (Tears For Fears)
Larry Klein (Peter Gabriel)
David Rhodes (Peter Gabriel)
and many more

In reading a couple of sites devoted to Big Harvest, it would seem that Don wasn't quite ready for the rigors of being a recording artist. It also seems that he was/is battling demons of some sort, although it was never really made clear what they were, so a bit of guesswork there on my part.

In an e-mail response to one of the sites, he asked not to be contacted, but did supply the site with a song that he had recently recorded. Again, excellent stuff.

I'd love to see an in-depth story on this guy. What happened. What he's doing.

I always enjoyed Big Harvest but it was always one of those lp's that I could never listen to the entire thing at one time. Went for years without hearing it--yhen about 3 years ago I was lucky enough to find the cd at Lukes record exchange for 3 bucks!![:D]

and the thought of Eddie Vedder covering Hard Sun makes me ill.

I know exactly what you mean randy. I think there was a sameness to it which would cause me to lose interest in it as I listened to it. Hard Sun was a standout on the record which I never tire of, though.
