US currency

[Opera Prima]

I've got a bunch of coins from my last trip to the US (many years ago) and also some bills and I'd like to know whether they remain in use. I'm visiting your country again and I'd like to know which coins/bills are in use so that I don't carry useless things.

It's all in use. Once it's "legal tender", it's always in legal tender.

The reverse has bummed me out before--re: from my travels to Europe before the Euro, I had collected all kinds of coins and bills, which are no longer in use. Too bad, because I loved that unusual European money ! The Dutch [i]gilders[/i] were always my favorite.

Yes, some bills and coins were quite nice, with lots of colours and nice designs... many people in Europe miss their old currencies, though having a common European currency unit has a lot of advantages. I think Euros are nice too, though as each country has its own design for the reverse, I guess I wouldn't notice if I was given a fake.

I'm glad to hear I can use all the old coins and bills. It surprises me that they're still valid currency since in most European countries the designs and shapes were changing every few years.

I searched the Wikipedia and found some coins and bills completely different from the ones I have, that's when I started thinking maybe mine were no good.

Yes, I read they are quite uncommon because people rarely use them (like 500€ bills... you almost never see them).
