Does anyone remember The Ritz club in NYC?

Postby MartiniHoudini » Mon Apr 04, 2005 12:53 am

Gosh, I remember seeing dozens of bands back in the early 80s at this club. The first show I ever saw was Adam & the Ants back in 1981. I was lucky enough to later see Haircut 100, Propaganda, Gang of Four, and dozens of others. It was a shame when it changed ownership and then became Webster Hall. Heck, I miss the 80s!

Sure miss that hallowed venue.[V]
Saw great shows there ranging from The Fixx to <a href="http://www.samkinison.org/home.html" target="blank">Sam Kinison</a>.

GREAT room...saw a ton of shows there...it was always hot as hell but the side bars near the stage had beers you bought that were out of a trash can full of ice that were as perfect as you could get...we'd always finish the show there and wander over to C

I remember attending WLIR's "Non-Conformal Ball" back in early 1984. Artists such as EBN-OZN and the Comateens were also there just hangin out. Yeah, the club would get very hot (literally) at times, but it was still pretty cheap to get in, and it was g

The Ritz was great! One night I went to the Palladium (R.I.P.) and saw Blue Angel open for Human League during the Dare tour and then walked to the Ritz to see Depeche Mode.

Other shows at the old Ritz that I can remember...

What a great place that was. Saw quite a few shows there. I especially remember seeing Peter Murphy there. There was this guy up in the balcony that everyone swore was Robert Smith. I remember all the girls going "Oh my God, Robert is here" Of course

Kim, don't insult him with a dynamite comparison!

Dude, I lived at the Ritz! Pepermint lounge was cool too. Here is me at the non conformal ball. Went to all of them.
