NWO MixCD exchange RESULTS, PART 2

Anyway, Heavenly Bodies, Killing Joke, Au Pairs, Visible Targets(!) are always good...and how in the world did you find Crown of Thorns ? I've been looking for that one for 20 years !! I had asked about that group months ago on here and nobody knew anything. Do you happen to have "Gone are the Days" from them? Anyway, looks swell.

Glad you liked my series. I am not suprised that our trades would contain the same tracks. We all have excellent tastes. [:D] I have had Crown of Thorns since the 80s, when I scooped the vinyl E.P. in Manhattan somewhere. I have the E.P. on cd-r now and it does contain "Gone Are The Days". I can burn it for you and send it, if you like.

Finally, more CD feedback! Sorry for the delay. Keeping up with the feedback in this exchange is kind of like working on a long term project for school, but MUCH MORE FUN! Thanks to everyone who sent me their CDs. I'll eventually get around to listening to everything and posting the feedback. What takes me so long is I try to be very thorough and give each mix the attention that it deserves.

Medication 881:
New Wave Medication 1:
How funny that you and I both included Discovering Japan and China on our CDs. I can tell you’re a DJ by how you have incorporated modern music into the mix of new wave tunes on both CDs—very effective. I had never heard most of these modern songs—thanks for turning me on to some cool new music by: Ian Brown, Ivy, The Icicles, Arcade Fire, Big Collapse, and the song "Way Gone Man" (I can’t read the artist name). Also, thanks for two long time favorites: "Say You Will" and "Birth, School, Work, Death"!

New Wave Medication 2:
Again, I love the new music woven in with the old songs—I would be hard pressed to pick out the new songs if you hadn’t included the year of release! I especially like the ones by Assemblage 23 and The Sounds. Thanks, too, for including "Go"—a favorite from way back.


Bowiestation:
First of all, fun cover art! You’ve put together two great dark mixes, filled with a few familiar songs among the MANY new delights. One CD (the one with Theda Bara on the cover) starts off divinely with Modern English and Lene Lovich, and the momentum continues with great tunes by Fortran 5 (love it!), The Sound, Au Pairs, Danielle Dax, and Tuxedomoon. (I don’t know how Tuxedomoon passed under my radar twenty years ago, but Incubus is my new favorite song!)

The second CD (with the bagman cover) is excellent, as well—a unique mix. I’ve been buzzing to Pink Frost all afternoon—I haven’t heard this for ages! I love the song by Crispy Ambulance, too (This band passed under my radar in the 80’s, too. What, was I under a rock back then?).

“Old” CD:
Considering your young age and immersion in the NWO Hub, I knew your mix would both reflect your youthful perspective and contain lots of obscure nuggets. I was right! You included one of my all time favorites (“Lined Up”), and you turned me on to other cool songs by Cult Hero and The Trademarks. I had to laugh when I heard the song by Freezepop that is sung in Japanese. It sounds like pretty elementary Japanese—maybe if I’m ever bored I could translate it with my arsenal of dictionaries, LOL.

“New” CD:
This is what I really like about the NWO CD exchange. I can get exposed to lots of great new music by trusting the taste of people who already share my taste in new wave music. You’ve chosen music that is so easy for an old new waver [8D] to enjoy. The song by The Bravery sounds a lot like The Strokes. I also really like the songs by The Chalets (“I know you love me but you’re f*cking crazy.” Priceless!), Freezepop, Ladytron, The Faint, and VHS or Beta.

I can email it, but consider this-

If you really like Factual, the cdr I can send you already has the entire Crown of Thorns E.P. AND the Factual E.P. (plus the early Men Without Hats E.P as well)-so you can have them all. It is part of my "Essential E.P.s of the 80s." series of cds.

Hey people, what's up.
Well I just want everyone whom I promised a CD to know that if you have'nt recieved it yet, it's going out in tomorrow's mail. I just finished burning a bunch more discs and I have them all packed, ready for delivery. Sorry, it took so long, I've just been bananas at work and plus I've been away on vacation. For the same reason, I've been unable to respond to all the discs I have recieved. I have like 12 of them! I need to set aside some time and do some serious listening soon.[:)] I've listened to about half of them already.

How do we feel about continuous mixes, no gaps between songs? I'm somewhat of an amateur DJ and I personally like doing the soft mix thing, matching up the BPM's and the tempos.....

I still split it up into seperate tracks so you could just go to a favorite song if you like, instead of it being one whole 74 minute track.
