Sell me on The Sundays?

I just picked up one of their cd's, and haven't had a chance to listen to it, what are they like? good enough to have at least one disc?

Although they can be kind of bland, their better tunes fall somewhere between Pre-fab Sprout and the Cranberries for me - smart pop meets cool layered guitars. I have the "Blind" cd, which has their very cool cover version of "Wild Horses".


Side note: they were horrid live when I saw them in the 90s; I couldn't make it past the first 2 or 3 songs! Maybe it was just a bad sound mix that night...

i can only 2nd that statement !

if u don't like or even love that voice i suggest that u should only listen to instrumental music from now on ! [:D]

I've only ever heard the first album, Reading Writing... (pronounced 'Redding', as in the town they were from) and saw them on that tour. That cd and that show were great for what they were, good jangly brit pop without trying to make a statement or change the world.

Reading and Blind are both solid jangle-pop albums, a bit mellow, but worth owning. Harriet's voice is easy to listen to. I like their version of Wild Horses better than the original, it's an amazing cover.

I lean towards the [i]Reading[/i] album a lot more. There's something a bit fresher about it. It might be the combo of Harriet's vocals (which sound a wee bit more raw and tomboyish here, and I like that) and the more fluid, freeforming feel of the songs. "Skin and Bones" is my favorite track off of it.
