Wait a minute. Mr "Union of the Snake, Space Age Love Song, Look of Love, and Never Ever Freakin' Ending Story in his top 50" is complaining about "lightweight"?! Just what "temple" are you worshipping at? All this MTV stuff comes during the mainstream and after the greatest new wave already hit.
Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff on your list, but it's a bit of the pot calling the kettle black. I strongly recommend giving early Spandau another try and even revisting True.

Okay, I've only heard Spandau's later stuff...didn't care for it. Maybe the early stuff is good. I didn't like Berlin or Simple Minds, until I heard their early material.
But, I mean, you can't blame me...when Spandau Ballet is compared to Duran Duran, and all I've got to go on is True...I mean come on! But maybe they have some good early stuff. Is there a particular recording I should pick up?
By the way, Neverending Story is a good song!

Limahl's got a great voice, whether solo or with his old band.

P.S. If you think A Flock of Seagulls and "Space Age Love Song" is lightweight, then please tell Edge and the "deep" U2 to stop ripping off their guitar style for the past 15 years!
