GARY NUMAN

Pardon me, folks, but I'd like to get your opinion on this well-known but highly overlooked 'new wave' artist.

I've been a Numan fan for 25 years or more, buying all the LPs (and most of the singles) then buying the CDs, CD singles, etc. I felt that most of his Beggars Banquet recordings are fabulous (bar the "I, Assassin" album, which was a weak offering), and I really loved the Numa Records stuff (essentially the mid '80s to mid '90s albums like "Berserker", "The Fury", "Strange Charm", etc)

Even his last few albums have been really good (although the closer he gets to noisy industrial, the less I like....but he hasn't quite crossed that line yet, thankfully).

Oh, and I'm not very fond of the song "Cars", but isn't that always the case.......


Does anyone here listen to him apart from just a few songs?

One of the original electro heroes. His albums with Mick Karn (Dance), Bill Nelson (Warriors), Even his re-make of princes She's got the look" and his cd "pure" are all a stepping stone to his next recording venture. I'm a big fan!

In terms of Numan, I think that "Pleasure Principle" is a 'good' album but is also a bit weak due to the songs sounding too samey.

"Telekon" and "The Fury" are two albums that stand out for me....

I don't dislike Gary Numan in any way, but I'm not the biggest fan either. He kinda lost me after the "Dance" album (which even featured Roger Taylor from Queen on drums on a couple of songs), but I did get "Warriors" as part of a 2-for-1 CD packaged wit

Funny.I thought Dance was brilliant...Mick Karn (Japan) on bass is amazing and the production level is awesome. Listen to it again.[:p]

Warriors was just OK.
