Hi all

Anyone have this, or know what CD it is featured on? Because I can't find it!

This is the 7" version used in the UK, opening with female vocals, and featuring more English female vocals in the middle-eight. It's also a little faster. Pretty much every CD seems to featured the same German 7" versions [3:22]. Here is the edit in question;

And also here it is on UK TV show, Top Of The Pops...

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Here you go, DJPaul has already done the dirty work with the transfer off of vinyl.

Didn't even think about suggesting BTG as i expected anfunny2003 to know about this site and presumed it must be a different version than any of the many on there. On camparison it is exactly the same version as i checked my hard drive

Thanks for this! I was hoping it had a CD release, but apparently not.

Why would you want CD? Unless a perfectly done remaster, when you get vinyl transfer at 96khz 24bit? You should be in heaven. LOL

I prefer CD's. I like the rips on this blog, but you can tell they're from vinyl, especially on good speakers/headphones. However, I've found the edit on a UK compilation CD! It lists the wrong time and doesn't mention the mix/edit title, but it's been confirmed as the correct version. I'll upload it and stick it here for anyone who might want it. :P

"The American Edit" is a shortened version of the Salieri Mix. It comes in 12" and 7" versions. The "extended" version (about 5:53, still quite a bit shorter than the original 8:21 Salieri Mix) is on many compilations. The ~3:10 edit is more difficult to find on CD.

Here's a copy definitely obtained from CD, but I couldn't tell you which one: http://www.solidfiles.com/d/deae524f27/ ... ng%5D.flac

Overall it sounds very good, but it has a few little pops in it that make it sound like vinyl. Static? Ripping errors? Or the rip could be fine and the pops are mastered onto the CD due to defects on the glass master or bad transfers. CD is not always better, just different :)

You might notice it runs 3:18. The ones that are shorter are exactly the same, but the master tape is playing faster. I'm pretty sure this was intentional. It's something they'll do for 7" versions I think so the radio stations can squeeze in 6 more seconds of advertising!

Thanks
The edit was the one that got to number one in the UK and was played constantly on the radio. Hard to believe the mix is rare.

Here is a clip from Top of the Pops:

In the U.S. the one I always heard on the radio was "The Canadian Version" (on the flip side of the 7")... this is the edit where the "rapped" vocals were replaced by a narrator giving biographical highlights of Mozart's life.

anfunny, can you post your version or at least let me know what CD it is on so I can hunt it down. All the version so far seem to be of average quality. This was played a lot on the radio during the 90s so it must exist somewhere.

I found it on the Time Life compilation - 1986.

It runs to 3:22 but it is the UK mix.

Odd I have two mp3 files, both the same file size and same duration but one is the UK mix (with female vocals) while the other is the standard 7". Very confusing.

On further listen, this "CD" version isn't much better than DJ Paul's rip. But just as acceptable.
