REQ: Ultravox single edits

Postby Passing_Stranger » Thu Aug 28, 2014 12:23 pm

Hi, wanted to ask if anybody has single edits of several Ultravox songs. Unfortunately they are not released on CD and are hard-to-find, but maybe anyone's willing to share?

I need these:

Rockwrok (http://www.discogs.com/Ultravox-ROckwrok/release/433019)
Quiet Man (http://www.discogs.com/Ultravox-Quiet-M ... ase/107977)
Vienna (http://www.discogs.com/Ultravox-Vienna/release/2209280)

The last one will be specially appreciated!

"Vienna" would be a "rarity" and although I have never Heard it I'm pretty sure it's a fade-in or fade-out or both. Just like the "official " single version. In either case, it's most likely done by someone at the US record Company without any "approval" by Ultravox. /JW

Actually, no - I've read in the Vox fanzine that whoever was doing that edit they tweaked that legendary middle part with violin solo. I suspect that it's the one with which they appeared on Top of the Pops in Feb 1981. Still, it's an interesting curio and would be fun to have :)

Yes, depending on what "tweaked" means in this case :)
In either case I don't have it, and I guess if Ultravox valued that "version" it would have been released on a wider scale, not only on a very rare promotional single in USA...? Then again it's just me assuming... to change the sounds (remix) the guy would have needed access to the multi track tapes, no?

I think so too, but that version of "Vienna" isn't a remix, it's an edit, which can be done without band's knowledge (like that Dutch edit of Rational Youth' "Dancing on the Berlin Wall", for examle). But still, it was released by their record company so it's kind of official.

That version of Quiet Man is, ironically, called the "Full Version" and appears on the remastered Systems of Romance CD. http://www.amazon.com/Systems-Romance-U ... B000EU1PWS

It isn't the one version I want. There were a 7" edit and a 12" mix - the latter is on Cd, the former is not. I need the former, of course.
