Would Scars fit into this category?
I am really not familiar with them, but I must say that a number of the mix cds I have received from NWOers have "All About You" on them. It is INCREDIBLE!!! I would place it in the same category as "Nowhere Girl" and "Doot Doot" as a classic new wave track. It is criminal that the song doesn't get more credit.

"All About You" is one of my favorite songs that I've ever downloaded from the various "Song of the Week" sites. I got it from torchomatic a while back. Definitely one that deserves more recognition.

Ah yes! So much classic stuff there! 20/20, Holly & the Italians, the Shoes, Dirty Looks, early Romantics, on & on & on... Probably my favorite genre along with early punk.

I've posted about this elsewhere... there's a 12 LP series called Power Pearls that compiles rare independantly released mod/power pop singles from the late 70's and early 80's. I've got 6 of them and for the most part they are great. Power Pop bands from the US, UK, Sweden, Finalnd, Japan... all over the world.

There's also the Yachts,in a more new wave style and their incredible fast playing,the Wize, NY based clean power pop in their lone album in 1979 and also the Yankees of Jon Tiven and their multi-styled blend of pop,country,new wave,folk and punk rock in their album ''high n' inside''.Ilove also-Bottles,Jags,Atlantics,Paley Brothers,Starjets(irish punk-power pop),Dirty Looks,Tremblers(peter noone of Herman's Hermits),Roy Sundholm and the Chinese Method,Real Kids,Artful Dodger,Pezband(great underrated illinois based power pop combo),Fotomaker,Rubinoos and others..

did you just say [i]The Moberlys[/i]?!?! As in Jim Basnight and The ? holy cow! Although I never thought of them as Power Pop (I guess it's been so long since I've heard them), maybe they were. I've seen them live in Seattle back in the day plenty-o-times, and have also been looking for them on CD or tape or whatever. Cool to see that somebody else remembers them!

Do you have "Rest Up" ? (maybe it has another title..."rest up baby, rest up, I'm gonna make you feel alright"...)

Funny though--soon after that last post, I found some Moberlys on soulseek and maybe it was just the songs I found, but I couldn't get into it anymore. A bit too guitar-based for my tastes. But I'd love to hear some stuff that sounds like "Rest Up".[:)]
