Skoochies Reminiscing

Hi DJ,

I was wrong about the dates I was at Skoochie's, it was actually 84-85. That's cool that you came down to straighten out the musical choices. They did play some cool stuff but some of it was pretty commercial, too.

The songs I associate most with Skoochie's are Work for Love, Round and Round, Young Guns, Go, Boy, and lots of Depeche.

Good luck with your training center in Vietnam! That's a neat thing to do.

Hi There! Do you know people from Issaquah High. People like M Durkin. Those kids are very good friends of mine. Most kids went to Skoochies actually graduated from colleges.
Myself I went to work for EDS, Wash Mutual, Group Health Cooperative, Puget Sound Energy. Premera Blue Cross, McKesson Corp and many others as IT consultant.

I don't know M Durkin but I did know some people from Issaquah, classes of 83 and 84. My Nick Rhodes/David Sylvian lookalike senior year BF went there, Thom W. His photo is on a different thread. Also, Brian W. and Todd C.

I know all those guys from Issaquah. We used to go to China Town for Chinese food after Skoochies closed. It would be nice if people can post pictures of Skoochies days on this thread. BTW can you give the link of Tom and Brian post. I know many of them still working at Microsoft.

Hey Skoochies fans. My Seattle plans for May are dead. My sister's class canceled their 20th reunion, so I won't be in the great NW in May, and with trying to get a restaurant off of the ground, the near future looks real murky. I never got any responses from the current tenants either, so it seems a Skoochies night was never to be.

I was looking forward to meeting a few of you, especially Swamp and Hex (would love to read what you've written). If anyone gets the ball rolling on a NoWest get together, let me know.

Seona Dancing 'More to Lose' one the most requested songs at Skoochies. I got this record from NY Rockpool and I no longer have a copy of this song or record. Anybody got a copy or link for download???

BeatSchool, I suck-diddley-uck and have been stuck at 40,000 words for quite a while. But the legislative session ended last week so I hope to get going again. Maybe by the end of the year. Stephen Rabow wanted to see it too!

P.S. Where's kimiiii? I think she still has relatives up here to visit!

'The relatively few black faces you saw at Skoochies included some friends of mine that are half-Vietnamese, half-black. 2 sisters and their brother. These guys really helped me with my appreciation for music. After the clubs, we'd go to their house and listen to their dad's Parliament/Funkadelic collection. I have such great memories of those times.' BeatShool wrote.

They are my good friends too also since I am 100% Vietnamese. I had a condo at 6001 and one of the sisters lived right next to me in Redmond. Them them hi for me if you do talk to them.

Yes Yes Yes!!! Todd always wear long black coat. I saw him 3 years ago and went sailing with him at Lake Union. It was scary!!! he he!

Lisa and Tanhya? Their brother's name is John. I talk pretty regularly with them. Lisa was my sister's first roommate at UW. John and I were really close, then Tanhya and I became good friends. They were like my other three siblings.
