Name That Tune Volume 7

Postby fritzb » Sun May 09, 2004 12:30 pm

Well time for yet another round of Name That Tune. After Myirwin's foray into 30 years of roots and influences, this one is back to the traditional New Wave period material only. Now that I'm looking over all the tracks on this one, I suspect that this may the easiest NTT yet. I guess we shall see. [;)]

Like my previous editions, there are 50 songs clips - for a total of 100 points (1 point for artist, 1 point for title). There are 2 seconds of silence between song clips. Download your response form below and email it to me for tabulation when you're finished (my email address is on the form). Make sure to put your forum screen names on your answers, so I know who you are. I will send the Answer Sheet to everyone who sends me their responses (if you don't hear from me within 24 hours, I probably didn't get your email). Don't post your responses here!

Here's the link for the response form (my email address is on it):

Here's the song sampler link:
<a href="http://home.comcast.net/~fritzb1/NameThatTune7.mp3">NameThatTune7.mp3</a>

As always, there's a bit of everything in there style wise, but a large percentage of the songs got radio play. Never fear, there are still a few obscure tunes to challenge the resident mavens. [:p]

Good Luck!

76% easy, 24% total stumper for me. As usual there were about 3 I really should've known but no amount of struggle could bring them to mind. #49 was one of 'em and like schwenko I want it too. Cool deal fritzb, thanks for yet another great NTT.

Well, you need only send your responses to relieve your suspense. [:p]

#49 is a likely tune for my mp3 posting at the end of the game. We'll see how many manage to get it.

BTW: The game will end on Friday, May 21 @ 4PM EST. (ya get that Dave? [;)]

So far, I stand about the same with Grayson. I'm missing 14 out of the 50 so far, and of the one's I've gotten, I'm confident only one is a guess. #49 isn't the one driving me batty (having no recollection of it whatsoever), it's #'s 40 and 41! And I d

I got the answers back and now I feel like an idiot as I missed number 38, one of my favorite songs and one I have in regular rotation amongst my collection. The songs I'd like to see posted as mp3 are 16, 40, 49 & 50.

I've sorted out my email problem. My email provider's over-zealous anti-spam filter was flagging some of them as suspected spam. I'll keep an eye out for any more responses that get flagged.

With 6 responses in, we have an average score of 72 points! Only 3 songs are yet to be correctly answered!

I guess my suspicions about this being the easiest NTT yet were correct. [;)]

Fritz - thanks for re-introducing me to #31. I haven't been that excited to hear a long lost song since hearing Devo - Gates of Steel a couple of months ago. Yes, life is good! [:D]

Hey, fritz, which numbers are the songs that are unanswered so far? Just curious.

Currently the only stumpers left are #40, #49, and #50. You guys (and gals) are too good! [:p]

Cheetos knows #40, but he recused himself from answering on that one (he sent me the song to include in the game). [8D]

Midgame update...

We've had a healthy participation in the game so far. It's good to see some "new faces" playing this time, not just the usual suspects. [:p]

With 14 responses in, we have an average score of 66 points! 3 songs still have not been

I just sent in my answers. I think I scored 58 points. I really want to know what song #10 is, as I've heard it at some point.

Thanks for the NTT.
