Stepping Stone 1984 - was I drunk?

Stepping Stone 1984 - was I drunk?

I used to go to this great club called Stranded in Sydney's Strand Arcade when I was 15 and pretending to be 22. They used to play a great mix and they had this version of "Stepping Stone" that was synthy and chorusy that I can't find anywhere. The DJ was Scott Pullen if that makes any difference. I know you guys are great so any help or ideas would be v. welcome.

OMG,
I remember that song! I used to have a scratchy cassette recording off of KYYX back in the day. I'm sitting here trying to think of the artist in a hard way, and I can't come up with it. I'll help you look, though. 'Cuz I do recall the song you are talking about...synthy, with some horns, too.
Also, I know that both Minor Threat and the Sex Pistols (not together) each did a version of this song.

Unlikely it made it to Sydney, but LA's The Untouchables do a really great version of "Stepping Stone"

Are you talking about a cover of the Monkees tune? Was it a really high-energy dance song?

Modern Rocketry also did a version sometime between 82 - 86.

I've got a 12", I'll see if I ever converted it to digital.

Modern Rocketry sounds familiar...I seem to remember there was a "modern" in the artist name somehow.

Wolverine,
that would be super duper if I could get mailed a copy. You are awesome! (I'm pretty sure this is the right song & artist--I recall the song fondly, but it's been so long. Like, 20 years.)

I'm at: wankeab AT earthlink.net

Thanks![:)]

You are AWESOME, Wolverine. Thanks so much--this was exactly the song I had been remembering! It's fun and catchy as hell.
Thanks for helping a wave girl out.

Hi, I'm new to this board. I'm interested in hearing this version of Steppin Stone but I'm not sure what you meant about it being "up on the hub." Would I be able to access it there as well?

Thanks,
Shannon
