There have been some big mainstream stadium rock acts that dipped their hands in the NW water from time to time, like Styx, Yes, etc. I think one of my favorite NW song from a non-NW artist is Peter Gabriel's Shock the Monkey.

Actually, J. Geil's had a much more New Wave song than "Centerfold". Remember "Come Back" - very New Wave and very cool.

Well, new poster, yeh, thats why I have a Kate bush song next to my name. But no i dont understand.....is this whole thread a joke? If so I didnt pick up on that. I glanced at the thread and thought we were naming "new wave" sounding songs that werent by new wave artists (despite the ridiculousness of some of the posts). Please instruct me on what the thread is actually about.

I think it qualifies as a new wave song by a rock group. I dont think it qualifies as disco...because its too 'loud' Disco is a lot more smooth sound in post audio production. Commercial disco at the time also didnt have use any regular rock progression intervals....rarely ever. This is much to rigid for disco..even though it has the standard underbeat and bassline of a disco song.

Due to the use of synthesizers it might fit into post disco-pre italo dance music, but this doesnt work due to the fact that the vocals are just too styled for rock music.

Its the same way that the afore mentioned Laura Brannigan tune can be equated to italo...for it has the MIDI-sequenced DX-7 bass lines of tones homophonic to the main chord progession, one octave apart...the same as an italo tune.
