I was always a big fan of their music.Glad that someone a few years ago had the decency to put out a greatest hits CD on them,and also add some great new bonus cuts that were never released before.Are there any other big fans out there of The Poodles,and if so which album by them did you like the best? My favorite has always been their second one "Think Pink" I just love their song "Bionic Man" and the rest of the album is just as good too.

Remember God Damn Think Pink.Ha ha ha.

I used to hear the Fabulous Poodles back in the 9th grade on KZAM in Seattle. I liked "Bionic Man," and didn't they do "Mirror Stars" too?

Another one of those artists where they didn't really start out as a New Wave band but their label didn't know what to do with them so when New Wave became more popular the label promoted them as such, maybe one reason was because the band had the unusual distinction of having a violin player(!). Anyway, love the songs "Bionic Man" and "B Movies".

BTW, newwavepopman, I love the fact that you're bringing up all of these obscure or previously unmentioned bands here, as I am familiar with some of them and it's great to get their names and music exposed. Keep it up!

I have their records. "Mirror Stars" is on pink vinyl. "Pink City Twist" got played at some of the dance clubs. I put their sound in a category with U.K. bands like The Boomtown Rats, Yachts and Sports for some reason.

I forgot to mention that I saw them play at the Fast Lane in Asbury Park NJ.

Always one of my favorites (I had a lot of favorites)--yet I thought Mirror Stars was the far superior lp. Was also dissappointed that my 3 favorite songs from it were the 3 that did not make the great. est hits cd. ( Oh Cheryl , Roll Your Own and Tit Photographer Blues ) I have since obtained them but could use a better copy of Oh Cheryl. Convent Girls also an interesting tune from their British release.

What I found odd was they definatly had a 50's flavor to them and I still loved them. ( I am not a big 50's fan at all. )

I'm digging through old threads and just had to bump this to the top. Randy, I'm still digging the Fab Poodles that you sent me. I know that was a while ago, but I just have to remind you how great it is to hear it again! (My vinyl versions of Think Pink and Mirror Star are under a pile of dust in the basement. What a sacrilege... [V] )

Oddly enough I had read that their first American release, at the time, outsold the Clash's and Jam's first releases in America!!

That's probably correct. I can remember hearing "Mirror Stars" on the radio in the late 70's, but I never heard anything by the Clash until around 1979 and the Jam never got airplay where I was living at the time.

A highly overlooked band.I remember in the late 70,s a friends older brother was a DJ at a local club and just raving about Bionic Man.I ignored him thinking they were some goofball band.Well how wrong I was and even found mint copys of all their lp,s in the early 90,s.
