The Come Back Albums, Yuck!

I agree with you 100% LovePlusOne. I also love the last two A-ha cd's. Their sound is mature and modern yet has remnants of what we all love about them in the first place.

As much as I love Blondie, I really disliked both of the comeback lps - No Exit and Curse of Blondie.

I've tried & tried to like them, but can only pick out 2 or 3 songs from each that I like. Granted, I really love the 2 or 3 I pick out. (Maria, Screaming Skin, Good Boys, etc.)

I don't know if I have less patience with whole cds now, or if it's just that they're not very good albums.

Amen to that! Everyone who ever liked Scoundrel Days should check out Minor Earth/Major Sky and Lifelines. I'm really looking forward to their next album, which is being mixed right now.

Agreed. Those 2 A-Ha albums are spectacular! Sad that so few people even know they exist anymore. By the way, check out Bob Mould's latest "Body Of Song" on Yep Roc records. It's his best stuff since the late 80's. Truly an excellent record.

Also, their live album How Can I Sleep With Your Voice In My Head, released from the Lifelines tour rocks. Really great tracklisting covering their entire career and it's an all around great performance. Manhattan Skyline, Stay On These Roads, and Hunting High and Low live are as heartbreaking as ever. Also, songs like Minor Earth/Major Sky, Lifelines and Did Anyone Approach You?, which are somewhat dancey on the albums are quite a bit more rock oriented live.

Agreed! I don't know if it qualifies as a comeback or not, but it certainly is solid work. So solid it feels like their 1990s discography didn't even exist! (In my opinion, they kinda started going downhill after what's THIS for… but maybe I just need to give their industrially influenced era a revisit.

I think most of their LPs are pretty good, I can live without Brighter Than A Thousand Suns & Democracy, and Outside The Gates is just awful, but the rest are all worthwhile IMO. Some take a bit of getting used to, but Revelations, Extremities... & Millenium are all among my personal favorites.

My biggest dissapointment comeback album was Soft Cell's 2002 'Cruelty Without Beauty'. Was expecting a lot from this album, but apart from the 1st single 'Monoculture' i thought it was totally crap. They should have re-recorded the pre 'Tainted Love' demo's, which in 79-80 allready showed their full potential before they became huge. Until recently it was only available on bootleg, and recently has been released as 'The Bedsit Tapes'.
