wow, even Germany and Italy has a better line-up than the US...what's up with that?

[/quote]I certainly concur, this has all the makings of a Woodstock II.
I dunno, seems like the organizers have this naive (or arrogant) notion that all the synergy of the original event will somehow reconstitute itself and be present for the 'Sequel'.
You may be able to pull this kind of stuff with cinema but large scale live entertainment events have countless variables that cannot be forcibly permutated into a 'successful outcome'.
Were's the the 'Live 8' version of the 'DTKIC' music & video release that preceded and subsequently gave birth to the original Live Aid concert event?

Supposedly, today (July 9) VH-1 and MTV will broadcast 10 hours of commercial free (and hopefully VJ schtick-free) concert footage. VH-1 will show music that will appeal to "older" audiences, 10AM-3PM EST, while MTV will broadcast for "younger" viewers, 3PM-8PM EST. Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd and U2 will be included in both segments.
