I don't know much about punk, but I still dig Dead Kennedys. [i]Fresh Fruit[/i] is great.

I also remember liking Minor Threat's [i]Out of Step[/i] when I was younger.

How far back do you want to go to look for punk songs? The Ramones first album came out in '76 but they were playing songs from the first 3 albums when I saw them at CBGBs in '74 and '75. But before the Ramones, there was Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Take a listen to Raw Power. Before that, we had the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed's 60s band. If we're reaching back to the '60s, listen to "Gotta Get Away" by the Blues Magoos, on my website. Hear that punk rock snarl? "'cus I'm gettin' addicted to your grand old love...", there's some Stiv Bators in there. Need a 60s punker with more guitar? Try "You Must Be a Witch" - The Lollipop Shoppe. I'd say that punk was first recorded in the '60s.

Wasn't "You Must Be A Witch" by The Sonics?

Hi!

The Sonics had a "Witch" song, but it's not the same as the one I referred to above. The Sonics were a gritty bluesy 60s group from Seattle. Their songs were cool, but I don't know if I'd call them Punk. But, The Lollipop Shoppe - definately Punk! Check out that song, please. Thanks!

The Avengers debut lp was really brilliant,forgot to mention it.I also love Penelop Houston's personal albums as a folk trobadure and the fact she has greek descent.
